IBERFLORA PRESENTS ITS AWARDS FOR THE BEST DEGREE PROJECTS IN GARDENING AND LANDSCAPING

The winners of the ninth edition of the IBERFLORA National Prize for Degree Projects in Gardening and Landscaping received their awards this morning during an act held at Feria Valencia, coinciding with the closing day of the 38th edition of the fair.
 
 
The jury comprising José Luis García Vicente, Rafael Narbona Calvo, and the university lecturers and professors Jordi Bellmunt Chiva, Isabel Bovet Pla, Francisco Páez de la Cadena Tortosa, Jorge Subirana Atienza and José Francisco Ballester-Olmos y Anguís, the last named acting as secretary, announced the winners in the various categories of the annual prizes.

The winner in Section A: Best Degree Project on Gardening and Landscape in the Urban Environment went to Ignacio Álvarez Ortiz-Repiso from the School of Agricultural Engineering at the Polytechnic University of Madrid for the project "Remodelling the Tinaja Park in Madrid". At the same time, and thanks to this project, coordinated by Jose Olivares Alcalá and Maria Isabel González González, the School of Agricultural Engineering at the Polytechnic University of Madrid was also awarded the 2009 Iberflora National Prize for Gardening and Landscape in the Urban Environment.

Two second prizes were awarded in the category of Gardening and Landscape. The first went to Rocío Busó Martínez from the School of Agronomist Engineers at the Polytechnic University of Madrid, for the project "Urban Park in El cerro del Castillo (Valdemoro, Madrid)". The other second prize went to Egon Cervera López from the School of Agronomist Engineering at the Polytechnic University of Valencia, for the project "Public Park in La Cañada (Paterna)".

No prizes were awarded in Section B: Best Degree Project on Regeneration Of The Natural Landscape.

No first prize was awarded in Section C: Best Degree Project on Management and Maintenance of Public Gardening. However, a second prize was given to Mariano Gutiérrez Barrera, from the School of Agricultural Engineering at the Polytechnic University of Madrid, for the project "Conservation and Maintenance of the San Isidro Park (Madrid)"

In Section D: Best Degree Project on Architecture And Landscape, first prize went to Eva Maria Núñez Baeza from the School of Architecture at the University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, for the project "Multi-use building at the Tarifa campus". The project, coordinated by Pedro Romera García, also earned the Iberflora National Prize in Architecture and landscape for the School of Architecture at the University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria.

Two second prizes were also awarded in this section. One for Lorena Marín Hernández, from the School of Architecture at the University of Granada, for the project "Duero river: intervention at the crossbow curve in Soria". And the second went to Maria Victoria Cobeña Serrano, from the School of Architecture at the Polytechnic University of Madrid, for the project "Tourist Topography in Paraty, Brazil".

Extraordinary Prize
Finally, the "Vicente Peris Pizarro" Extraordinary Prize for Innovation in Urban Landscape Design went to Pablo Ariel Moresí from the School of Science, Agro-food and Informatics at the University of La Rioja, for the project "Implantation of a Vertical Garden on the South Facade of the CCT Experimental Bodega (Logroño)".

At the same time, this project, coordinated by Francisco Páez de la Cadena, also won the "Vicente Peris Pizarro" Extraordinary Prize for Innovation in Urban Landscape Design for the School of Science, Agro-food and Informatics at the University of La Rioja.
